Bad bulbs

These bulbs failed after about a week of use ... as noted by the red flashing lights from the electronic control panel. I put in the "old" bulbs and the electronic control panel showed green led ... meaning the bulbs were good. These are germicidal light bulbs. Normally, these bulbs have worked great in the past 10 years or so. These bulbs were made in 2015. The last set of bulbs I rcv'd from showed the bulbs were manufactured in 2016. These bulbs were either used or the shelf life was roughly 2 years which was too long or these were just bad bulbs.

Save a ton with this little trick

Honeywell tries to extort $$$$ out of you by customizing this bulb so you can only buy it from them. They do this by buying Philips bulbs exactly like this and milling (cutting) two small slots out of the plastic base of the bulb. Since the original Philips bulb from does not have these slots, it won't fit. You're either stuck buying the Honeywell bulb for 3x's price or do this. Take the Honeywell bulb holder out and look inside. See those two small tabs? Their the money-makers for Honeywell. Take a sharp matt knife or exacto knife and cut them off. Voila! Mark which side of the bulb goes where before inserting.

We have priced these bulb at our local stores and they are well over $100.00 each! We use it in our outdoor fishpond and the bulb must be changed every 12 months! So this has been the MOST cost effective way to comply with the manufacturer!

Q & A
Do you know what ballast and socket this bulb takes.

The base of the bulb is a 2G11 so a socket that takes that type of base and has the proper wattage rating will work. In regards to the ballast, ballast manufacturer's recommend that this type of bulb be used with a ballast that will also operate an F54T5/HO bulb. We do offer a couple of those on our website and can be found using the following link.
