A measure of "electrical pressure" between two points. The voltage specification of an incandescent lamp is the electrical "pressure" required to drive it at its designed point. The "voltage" of a ballast (e.g. 120 V) refers to the line voltage coming from the power source and is connected to the ballast.

The end (or ends) of the lamp that fits into the socket.

Bulb Shape

The description of the general appearance of a lamp/bulb consists of a letter(s) followed by a number. The letter indicates the shape of the bulb and the number relates to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, a common household bulb is the A-19. The bulb is "A" shape and the diameter would be nineteen 8ths of an inch, or 2 3/8".

Also referred to as "Maximum Overall Length" (MOL). For light bulbs, it measures the length of a light bulb, from the top of the bulb to the bottom of the base or pins and is typically expressed in inches. For light fixtures and ballasts, it applies to the total horizontal length of the item.

Customer Reviews

Not So Bright

The bulb is rated by the manufacturer as 950 lumens. I have no way to measure the brightness, but does not seem to be that bright. Cannot use a larger wattage bulb - and this one has the highest lumens I can find. Disappointed!

New York, NY

Disappointing - one bulb burned out after less than a month.

One bulb has already burned out. I am extremely disappointed since these were not inexpensive bulbs. Can I get a replacement bulb?

Q & A
I have a small accent lamp, will this bulb be ok to use? The info on the lamp states 250V 500W. The bulb I removed has no info on it.

No. This is a 50 watt bulb at 120 volts. You would also need to know the base. Please contact Customer Service at 888-455-2800 for further assistance.

Can this bulb be used in the oven - The bulb in my Electrolux oven burned out an I want to replace it. Thank you.

While this bulb may work in the oven it is not recommended for such an application. The bulb needed for this type of application requires a high temperature rating. It is best to contact the manufacturer of the oven to see where the proper bulb can be purchased.

Is this the bulb I need to replace a bulb described as: a 50W T-3 or T04 Double Contact, Bayonet Base, Tungsten Halogen Lamp?

This bulb would not be the correct replacement. A single ended halogen would be the correct replacement. We offer this type of bulb on our website and they can be found using the following link.

Product Support

Are these bulbs able to be placed on a dimmer switch?

Absolutely. Because of the type of filaments/burners they use, the vast majority of incandescent and halogen bulbs will work on dimmers.
