High Bay Light Fixtures

LED high bay fixtures provide energy-efficient, high-lumen lighting for warehouses, manufacturing facilities, gymnasiums, retail spaces, and commercial buildings with high ceilings. Available in UFO and linear designs that are DLC Premium certified, LED high bays deliver bright, uniform illumination while reducing maintenance and energy costs up to 75% compared to HID and fluorescent fixtures. Choose from multiple lumen packages, color temperatures, beam angles, and mounting styles to fit your application. Further reduce energy costs by adding plug-in programmable occupancy and daylight harvesting sensors.

Sensors & Controls

Designed to maximize energy savings, commercial LED high bay lights feature field installable plug-in motion and daylight harvesting controls. These advanced lighting controls automatically adjust fixture output based on occupancy and available natural light, helping warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and commercial spaces reduce operating costs. These easy-to-install sensors quickly connect into a built-in receptacle on the fixture.

Occupancy and daylight sensors can be programmed over a wide range of selectable functions including high trim, motion sensitivity, hold times, standby dimming levels, standby dimming time intervals, and photocell sensitivity.

Sensors can be individually programmed with a simple hand held remote and/or with Bluetooth technology. Bluetooth-enabled smart lighting control sensors provide advanced wireless control of LED lighting systems. These intelligent sensors allow seamless fixture configuration, scheduling, grouping, dimming, and occupancy settings configured directly from a smartphone or tablet, eliminating the need for complex wiring or external control systems.

Commercial Applications

LED high bay fixtures are designed to be installed anywhere with a high ceiling that requires powerful, uniform light distribution. The most common applications are warehouses, manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, assembly plants, industrial production facilities, gymnasiums, sports complexes, arenas, commercial storage, airplane hangars, retail, big-box stores, and supermarkets. Any location in which the ceiling height mount is 15 feet or above.

Many commercial LED high bay fixtures now include switches to adjust the wattage, color temperature, and beam angle. These are designed to allow the same fixture to be used throughout the same facility for uniformity. The light output can be adjusted higher or lower based on the mounting height or type of use. For example, a manufacturing facility may want higher, brighter light then a warehouse facility with the same ceiling heights due to the type of work being performed. Color temperature (Kelvin) can also be adjusted from a warmer light (3000K-3500K), similar to an incandescent or HID, typically used in commercial applications or a cooler (4000K-5000K) color designed for increased productivity.

The versatility provided with these high bay fixtures is ideal for installers, contractors, electricians, property management, and facility managers. Reducing the number of products needed for a project and allowing changes to be made in the field. Installation of high bay fixtures can require expensive equipment which is why having the ability to make changes in the field is vital.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a commercial high bay fixture?

LED commercial high bay fixtures are high output light fixtures designed to be used in locations with high ceilings such as warehouses or industrial factories. These are used in large spaces to enhance the visibility and safety.

What is the difference between a LED linear (panel) high bay fixture and a UFO style fixture?

UFO style high bay fixtures are round and compact in design. They are used for open-area environments that require a uniform coverage throughout a large area. Linear high bays are rectangular in design allowing the light to have a directional spread. Perfect for aisle, racked warehouses, packaging lines, corridors, and to see in between shelving reducing light spillage.

Why would we choose a LED high bay fixture over a traditional HID or fluorescent fixture?

LED lights use a significant less amount of energy, they have a longer lifespan, are a better quality of light, and have more flexibility with controls. DLC certified LED high bay fixtures can reduce energy consumption by up to 75% compared to HID and fluorescent. LED high bay fixtures can also last up to 5 to 10X longer (50,000 to 100,000 hours) compared to legacy HID and fluorescent (10,000 to 20,000 hours).

How much cost savings would there be in switching from a HID or fluorescent fixture to a LED commercial high bay fixture?

The costs savings can add up very quickly and can be calculated with a simple formula. The LED will use less energy, have a longer life span that will require less maintenance as you will not have to replace lamps, and the control functionality optimizes when, how long, and at what light output to operate. As an example, replacing a 400W metal halide fixture with a 100W LED saves approximately $150–$200 per fixture annually at $0.12/kWh. For a 50-fixture warehouse, that equates to $7,500–$10,000 in annual energy savings before utility rebates.

What type of mounting options are available for a LED high bay fixture?

These fixtures can be installed direct to a ceiling surface, a pendant/pipe mount, or with suspended cables. Many fixtures include multiple knockouts and hanging cables for ease of installation. These features are very important to contracts, installers, and electricians cutting down the time for installation.

Are there rebates available for high bay fixtures?

Many utility companies, along with state and local governments, offer rebates for high bay light fixtures. Rebates can often significantly reduce the overall cost of the fixture due to the energy savings from switching to a new LED fixture from an old legacy HID or fluorescent fixture. All of our high bay fixtures are DLC listed which is required for potential rebates savings.

What specifications should I look for when choosing a LED commercial high bay fixture?

When selecting a commercial LED high bay fixture, it is important to consider the different certifications for each fixture. These light fixture certifications can include:

  • DLC Listing: Design Lights Consortium (DLC) lists fixtures for efficiency and use ratings. This listing is the primary qualification for rebate programs throughout the county. Rebates can range anywhere from $15 to $150 per fixture. IP Rating: tells you how well the fixture handles moisture and dust. IP65 rated fixtures are sealed against water jets and dust ingress, making them suitable for food processing facilities, cold storage, car washes, covered outdoor areas, and industrial wash-down environments.
  • CRI (Color Rendering Index): is a rating system ranging from 0-100. The higher the rating the better quality of light. A CRI of 70+ is adequate for standard applications. However, in applications like retail or food service a higher rating of 80 or90+ CRI might be recommended
  • 0-10V Dimming: has become an industry-standard for LED high bay fixtures. This allows the fixture to dim all the way down to 10% and allows for compatibility with many sensors and controls.
  • L70 Rated Life: One of the most important ratings shows the life expectancy of the fixture. Our fixtures carry a 5 to 10-year manufacturer limited warranty based on the L70 rating ranging from 50,000 to 100,000 hours. A higher L70 means fewer replacements and lower maintenance costs.
  • Title 24: California Compliance code Title 24 which requires LED high bay fixtures with controls to have efficiency thresholds and automatic shut-off and dimming.

Who can I speak with in order to determine the right commercial LED high bay fixture for my application?
