  • Q:

Tell me about the difference between these bulbs and the ones that we hve been using for years.
We have just purchased a new lamp that will handle a 150 Watt Bulb - bulbs to be soon extinct.
Is the Metal Halide Lamp as bright or brighter that the older bulbs? Can you use the MNetal Halide Lamp in a regular lamp socket?

      A:

The Metal halide bulbs require a ballast and cannot be used in a standard socket. Most likely the fixture requires an incandescent 150-watt bulb. The metal halides are not meant to be a replacement for the incandescent bulbs. We do still offer some 150-watt bulbs on our website. Also, the fixture can take up to 150-watts. A lower wattage bulb can still be used once the 150-watt bulbs are no longer being sold.
