The description of the general appearance of a lamp/bulb consists of a letter(s) followed by a number. The letter indicates the shape of the bulb and the number relates to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, a common household bulb is the A-19. The bulb is "A" shape and the diameter would be nineteen 8ths of an inch, or 2 3/8".

I ordered about 25 bulbs for the entire home. I put them in closets, bathrooms, lamps, outdoors, and indoors. At 10watts a pop im feeling great about my lower electric bills. They are cool to touch, so air conditioning doesnt work as hard. The light output is slightly brighter than 60 w incandescent, but perfect. Soft white output is also equivalent to incandescent, beautiful! Dimming works excellent & i dont hear buzzing sound.

One thing, make sure any switches with sensors are compatible with led technology. My restrooms have vacancy sensors, which allow a trickle of electricity through the circuit even when shut off. These leds are so efficient they pick up the trickle & remain lit in a very dim setting, so they dont turn off completely. My restroom fixture holds 6 bulbs, so they remained lit while off. My trick is to put a single low watt incandescent or halogen bulb in the line, pteferably lowest wattage possible. I found a 15 watt bulb at my local home improvement store. It works and i still save energy vs having 6 - 60 watt bulbs which get hot & eat a lot of juice.

My previous purchase for an LED 800 lumen bulb from this website was a Phillips brand bulb. Apparently bulbs.com switched to TCP. All of the Philips bulbs I purchased work just fine. I purchased 4 of these bulbs and one lasted less than a second. It is interesting to see other reviewers declare how long lasting the bulbs are (without actually watching it stay lit for 25,000 hours) or declaring how great the energy savings is (without hooking up an amp meter). I would say that the light output appears to be as advertised and the color is good. My assumption is if you miss the early life failure, hopefully the bulb will be fine. But so far, I'm at a 25% early life failure rate and I've only had the bulbs for an hour or so.

I like the bulbs but have two problems. First I put them in a bedroom in a ceiling fan. But at night when I want to turn off the lights and leave the fan on the bulbs do not completely turn off. They still glow. Secondly, the neck on the bulb is too short to fit into my antique light fixtures.
