The description of the general appearance of a lamp/bulb consists of a letter(s) followed by a number. The letter indicates the shape of the bulb and the number relates to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, a common household bulb is the A-19. The bulb is "A" shape and the diameter would be nineteen 8ths of an inch, or 2 3/8".

CRI

Color Rendering Index is an international system used to rate a lamp's ability to render object colors. An expression of the hue of the light emitted, measured in degrees Kelvin. Usually expressed by a four digit number followed by (k), such as 2700k. Higher temperatures indicate whiter, "cooler" colors, while lower temperatures indicate yellower, "warmer" colors. Some common Kelvin temperature benchmarks are 2700k (warm white), 3500k (neutral white), 4100k (cool white), 5000k (bright white), and 6500k (daylight).

Q & A

Philips EnduraLED Brand DIMMABLE 13 Watt lamp generates as much light as many 65 Watt BR30 incandescent lamps. Can smoothly dim down to 10% power.

  • Perfect to use anywhere you are using a 65 Watt BR30 incandescent lamp

  • No lead or mercury means easy and environmentally safe disposal

  • 650 Lumens initial light output is comparable to most 65 Watt incandescent lamps, while saving 52 Watts in electricity

  • VERY long life - rated to still put out 70% as much light after 40,000 hours of operation as it does when brand new

CHECK PRODUCT FIT BEFORE INVESTING IN MANY - Product May Not Fit in Your Fixture.  Also, NOT RECOMMENDED for use in enclosed fixtures because heat buildup can shorten life.  DO NOT "hot swap" this lamp.  Turn off fixture before replacing existing bulb.

Comments about Philips Lighting Company 13Watt, 120 Volt DIMMABLE 40,000-Hr LED BR30 Bulb - On National Backorder:

Great light. Very bright. However, my house is all incandescent right now. Because the colors dont match I can't just switch a burned out incandescent bulb for a new LED one. Instead I would have to do an entire room for it to look acceptable. In large rooms this is a very expensive proposition until the cost drops significantly.

Great for new home builds or remodels when you can buy in bulk and do entire rooms at a time.

Used in bathroom dimmable fixture. Works great. Expect it will last long. Very minor delay when turned on. Dims very low but not completely. Will not pollute with mercury. And I will buy more as needed elsewhere (because these will outlast me in the current fixtures).

Can I use this bulb to replace my outdoor HIgh pressure sodium build?
        Asked on 4/22/2012 by Anonymous

        1 answer

        • Bulbs.com LS1 Certified Lighting Specialist

          A:

This LED is not for replacing high-pressure sodium bulbs. The fixture would need to be changed out in order to use an LED bulb. LED's can be used outdoors as long as they are protected from the elements.

      • Q:

Does this light fit into a 5 inch recessed fixture?
Asked on 11/8/2011 by Deb from CT

        1 answer

        • Bulbs.com LS1 Certified Lighting Specialist

          A:

This product is made to replace a BR30 incandescent bulb. The measurements of the bulb are 3 3/4" in diameter and 5" in length. There should not be a problem with this bulb fitting into a 5" recessed fixture.
