The description of the general appearance of a lamp/bulb consists of a letter(s) followed by a number. The letter indicates the shape of the bulb and the number relates to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, a common household bulb is the A-19. The bulb is "A" shape and the diameter would be nineteen 8ths of an inch, or 2 3/8".

CRI differences among lamps are not usually visible to the eye unless the difference is more than 3-5 points.

Some common Kelvin temperature benchmarks are 2700k (warm white), 3500k (neutral white), 4100k (cool white), 5000k (bright white), and 6500k (daylight).

Hums...doesn't get very dim

Comments about U Lighting America 100W Equivalent, 23 Watt, 120 Volt Dimmable Warm White Spiral CFL Bulb.:

Tried to use these in two pendant lamps above our kitchen island/bar. The bulbs are long, so they extended past the bottom edge of the fixture glass. Very bright light, and despite the description these did not seem to emit a "warm" color...so they were uncomfortably glaring to sit near. When dimmed, they hum loud enough to be distracting to conversation. And when dimmed to lowest level, they just aren't that dim.

All in all they aren't usable in this application.

This is a replacement for a 100W living room table lamp. At only 23W at full brightness, it's a good choice. It dims well with my INSTEON dimming system for day-to-day use, but puts out good brightness when that's needed.

Can these be used in three-way light fixtures? I have three lamps that use three-way bulbs and I've been wanting to switch them to low voltage bulbs or if possible to LED light bulbs.

              A:

This bulb should not be used in a three-way fixture. We do offer three-way CFL's on our website and they can be found using the following link. http://www.bulbs.com/results.aspx?Ntt=3-WAY Spiral&Nty=1
