Comments about U Lighting America 60-75W Equivalent, 15 Watt, 120 Volt Dimmable Warm White Spiral CFL Bulb:

I have seen some comments on this site that various bulbs, including this one, hum or buzz. I have been using this bulb daily for several weeks. It is completely silent. I am pleased with this bulb. I replaced an incandescent bulb in a bedroom lamp that is on an X-10 automation/remote control system. It is bright and works well with this system.

I need bulbs for a dimable candelabra, but the shades are only 4". This doesn't say what the length of the bulb is. The lamp info says it takes 5 x 100 watt medium base bulbs. Any information you have would be appreciated.

                  • Bulbs.com LS1 Certified Lighting Specialist

                    A:

A: The overall length of this bulb is 4.8", including the base. This should fit in the recessed fixture. We do recommend that the fixture not be enclosed and have proper ventilation. The bulbs contains an integrated ballast and if too much heat builds up in the fixture then it will shorten the life of the bulb.
