Energy Used

A rating, expressed in watts, to indicate the rate at which a lamp consumes energy. Also known as wattage value.

Energy Used
5 Watts

Volts

A measure of "electrical pressure" between two points. The voltage specification of an incandescent lamp is the electrical "pressure" required to drive it at its designed point. The "voltage" of a ballast (e.g. 120 V) refers to the line voltage coming from the power source and is connected to the ballast.

Volts
110-130

Bulb Shape

The description of the general appearance of a lamp/bulb consists of a letter(s) followed by a number. The letter indicates the shape of the bulb and the number relates to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, a common household bulb is the A-19. The bulb is "A" shape and the diameter would be nineteen 8ths of an inch, or 2 3/8".

Bulb Shape
R-20

Base

The end (or ends) of the lamp that fits into the socket.

Base
Medium (E26)

Diameter (in)

Light bulbs: a measurement of a bulb's width taken at the widest point of the bulb. Fixtures: the measurement across the widest point of a circular fixture.

Diameter (in)
2.5

Length (in)

Also referred to as "Maximum Overall Length" (MOL). For light bulbs, it measures the length of a light bulb, from the top of the bulb to the bottom of the base or pins and is typically expressed in inches. For light fixtures and ballasts, it applies to the total horizontal length of the item.

Length (in)
4.063

Average Rated Life (hr)

A measurement of the average length of time, between first use and the point when 50% of the lamps tested have stopped functioning, , using an operating cycle of 3 hours on, 20 minutes off.

Average Rated Life (hr)
25000

Brightness (Lumens)

A rating of the inital light output of a bulb, rated after 100 hrs of operation. Lumens are a measure of how much light falls on one square foot of area, one foot away from the light source.

Brightness (Lumens)
215

CRI

Color Rendering Index is an international system used to rate a lamp's ability to render object colors. The higher the CRI (based upon a 0-100 scale) the richer and more accurately colors generally appear. CRI differences among lamps are not usually visible to the eye unless the difference is more than 3-5 points.

CRI
82

Color Temperature (Kelvin)

An expression of the hue of the light emitted, measured in degrees Kelvin. Usually expressed by a four digit number followed by (k), such as 2700k. Higher temperatures indicate whiter, "cooler" colors, while lower temperatures indicate yellower, "warmer" colors. Some common Kelvin temperature benchmarks are 2700k (warm white), 3500k (neutral white), 4100k (cool white), 5000k (bright white), and 6500k (daylight).

Color Temperature (Kelvin)
2850K

Bulb Technology

The technology implemented by the bulb, e.g. incandescent, halogen, LED

Bulb Technology
CFL

Bulb Finish

The surface finish of a bulb, which may affect the quality of the light emitted.

Bulb Finish
Frosted

Bulb Color

The color of the light produced by a bulb

Bulb Color
Warm White

Dimmable

Indicates whether a bulb can be dimmed in conjunction with a suitable dimmer control.

Dimmable
Yes

Product Notes: Please Test Small Quantities Before Investing in a Large Purchase. No Dimmable CFL Product Performs Like Traditional Incandescent or Halogen Bulbs. Dimmable CFL Bulbs May Not Work Well With Your Dimmer Switch and Even Those That Are Compatible Produce Noticeable Dimming Only Between 20-50% of Total Output. Traditional Bulbs Typically Dim from 0-100%, Dimmable CFL's Do Not.

Q & A

Litetronics brand 5 Watt Cold Cathode compact fluorescent reflector lamp. R20 size and shape replaces 30 Watt R20 lamp and fits into the track lighting fixtures used most often in both homes and businesses. Warm white color and high color rendering mean you'll never know the difference, at least until you get your electric bill.

  • Outstanding energy efficiency - provides equivalent light to most 30 Watt incandescent R20 lamps while using only 5 Watts of electricity

  • Outstanding life - 25,000 hour rated life is twelve to 25 times as long as most incandescent lamps

  • Outstanding value - replace your existing lamps with more energy efficient technology, at a competitive price

  • Unlike ordinary compact fluorescent lamps, this lamp is both Dimmable and Flashable.  Perfect for use in almost any application.

Comments about Litetronics 30 Watt Incandescent Equivalent, 5 Watt, Frosted DIMMABLE/FLASHABLE R20 PURE/WARM WHITE (2850K) Cold Cathode Lamp.:

I have >30 4" pot-lights in my house, most have simple baffle-refractors (2.5" opening) but some have eyeballs (2.0" opening). The eyeballs require a R16-bulb, but the down-light refractors can use an R20.

I bought a whole bunch of bulbs (LED, CFL, CFL-flood) recently, and these 5W/R20/110-130V/FF/PW bulbs are the only new ones I've been happy with. The light from this R20CFL was similar in brightness and color to the 40R16 incandescent bulbs I replaced, though the light was a little more hazy than the standard bulb (wife described it as "foggy"). I'd say these are just a hair more blue/white than the yellowish/red frosted incandescent.

These bulbs take a moment to turn on at about 1/4-to-1/2 bright, then take 45-60 seconds to come up to full-brightness. Once there, they work great as a general-flood (what I was looking for), but probably wouldn't be anywhere near useful as a spot (like the halogens). The part I'm most happy with is the reduction of pot-housing temperature; I can touch the bulb/base while in operation.
