Volts

A measure of "electrical pressure" between two points. The voltage specification of an incandescent lamp is the electrical "pressure" required to drive it at its designed point. The "voltage" of a ballast (e.g. 120 V) refers to the line voltage coming from the power source and is connected to the ballast.

Bulb Shape

The description of the general appearance of a lamp/bulb consists of a letter(s) followed by a number. The letter indicates the shape of the bulb and the number relates to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, a common household bulb is the A-19. The bulb is "A" shape and the diameter would be nineteen 8ths of an inch, or 2 3/8".

Q & A

Eiko brand 35 Watt halogen capsules.  JC type, 12 volts for low voltage systems.  Low voltage means a smaller filament, for greater optical control.

  • Halogen lamps provide brighter, whiter light than incandescent bulbs, while maintaining outstanding color rendering

  • Perfect for undercabinet and accent lighting

DOUBLE CHECK the distance separating the two pins on your existing lamp.  They come in different sizes and if the pins do not match up correctly, the capsule will not fit properly. Distance between pin tips for this version is 6.35mm (0.25")

      • Q:

Is this the same as one made by Westinghouse item # 04445 Also 35W 12V GY6.75 Base?

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

There are some minor differences (length and color temperature) however; they both have the same wattage, voltage, base type and rated life. This bulb would be an appropriate replacement for the Westinghouse product.

      • Q:

For a desk lamp that says "12V Type T 35 W". The base is G4 (I think). Is this the right bulb?

        • Staff Reviewer

          A:

Based on the information provided, this would be the correct replacement. The G4 base is the most common for this type of bulb and voltage. If unsure of the base type, measuring the space between the pins would help. The spacing on a G4 base measures 4mm center to center.
