Energy Used

A rating, expressed in watts, to indicate the rate at which a lamp consumes energy. Also known as wattage value.

50 Watts

Volts

A measure of "electrical pressure" between two points. The voltage specification of an incandescent lamp is the electrical "pressure" required to drive it at its designed point. The "voltage" of a ballast (e.g. 120 V) refers to the line voltage coming from the power source and is connected to the ballast.

Volts
12

Base

The end (or ends) of the lamp that fits into the socket.

Base
G6.35

Class and Filament

A designation used to describe the shape or structure of the filament in an incandescent or halogen light bulb. Most commonly used for specialty products like rough service and antique replica lamps.

C BAR 6

Diameter (in)

Light bulbs: a measurement of a bulb's width taken at the widest point of the bulb. Fixtures: the measurement across the widest point of a circular fixture.

Diameter (in)
0.47

Length (in)

Also referred to as "Maximum Overall Length" (MOL). For light bulbs, it measures the length of a light bulb, from the top of the bulb to the bottom of the base or pins and is typically expressed in inches. For light fixtures and ballasts, it applies to the total horizontal length of the item.

Length (in)
1.73

Average Rated Life (hr)

A measurement of the average length of time, between first use and the point when 50% of the lamps tested have stopped functioning, , using an operating cycle of 3 hours on, 20 minutes off.

Average Rated Life (hr)
50

Brightness (Lumens)

A rating of the inital light output of a bulb, rated after 100 hrs of operation. Lumens are a measure of how much light falls on one square foot of area, one foot away from the light source.

Brightness (Lumens)
1400

Color Temperature (Kelvin)

An expression of the hue of the light emitted, measured in degrees Kelvin. Usually expressed by a four digit number followed by (k), such as 2700k. Higher temperatures indicate whiter, "cooler" colors, while lower temperatures indicate yellower, "warmer" colors. Some common Kelvin temperature benchmarks are 2700k (warm white), 3500k (neutral white), 4100k (cool white), 5000k (bright white), and 6500k (daylight).

Color Temperature (Kelvin)
3000K

Q & A

Eiko brand 50 Watt halogen capsules.  JC type, 12 volts for low voltage systems.  Low voltage means a smaller fillament, for greater optical control.

  • Halogen lamps provide brighter, whiter light than incandescent bulbs, while maintaining outstanding color rendering

DOUBLE CHECK the distance separating the two pins on your existing lamp.  They come in different sizes and if the pins do not match up correctly, the capsule will not fit properly. Distance between pin tips for this version is 6.35mm (0.25")

NOT for general purpose lighting.  Filament design provides extremely high intensity, very bright white light, rated for 50 hours life.  Often used in scientific and photopraphic applications.

  • Q:

Is this really G6.35 and not GY6.35? I tried to buy what was claimed to be G6.35 in Lowes but they sent me GY6.35 that has thicker pins and can not fit into my base.
What is the thickness of the pins and the distance between them? I believe, for G6.35 the diameter is 1mm while for GY6.35 it is 1.25mm.

      A:

Measurements are made from center pin to center pin. If the pins and voltage match up, look for the max wattage for the fixture. It is usually printed/stamped near the socket.
