These bulbs are sold as capable of replacing 100 W incandescent bulbs. You will miss the latter.

Yes, this is a halogen lamp and can be used with a dimmer.


Does this burn hot? Can it be used in recessed lighting or outside?

This product will generate heat but not as much as the 100W incandescent bulb it is meant to replace. This product can be used in recessed and outdoor fixtures. When used outdoors, it is recommended that the product be used in a protected area and not exposed to the elements.
