Bulbs.com Receives $3.5 Million in First Round
of Venture Financing

Online Light Bulb Supplier Lights up Business-to-Business Space

Worcester, Mass.—January 17, 2000—Bulbs.com, the first company to offer secure
e-commerce specifically for the commercial light bulb market, today announced that it has closed $3.5 million in total equity in its first round of venture financing. The financing will allow the year-old company to enter its next stage of growth. In 2000, Bulbs.com will establish a distribution center, begin business-to-business direct marketing programs and aggressively hire key personnel.

The private financing was shared by venture capital investors including Arbor Venture Partners II, LLC, Ralph Wilson Equity Fund, LLC, Hexagon Investments and Grandhaven. Arbor Partners took the lead in this round of funding.

"Light bulbs and related products represent over a $10 billion industry in North America alone," said Steven Rothschild, president and CEO of Bulbs.com. "Companies can spend ridiculous amounts of time finding and ordering a product that meets the fundamental need for light. The Internet is the perfect medium to streamline the ordering process of light bulbs. With help from our investors, Bulbs.com is on the path to becoming a leader in this lucrative market."

"Business-to-business e-commerce is one of the fastest growing segments at the moment, and Steven Rothschild has already proven with Furniture.com that he can build great
e-commerce companies," said Donald Walker, Managing Director of Arbor Partners. "Bulbs.com is a smart investment for us because the company fills a market niche. Businesses are dependent on light bulbs, and Bulbs.com makes it easy for them to stay in the right light."

"We are delighted that Bulbs.com was our first co-investment opportunity, " said Skip Simms, President of Ralph Wilson Equity Fund. "It represents the qualities any technology investor would want to see, in that it is grounded in business-to-business, has a solid business plan with a real profit achievable over a reasonable period of time, and is led by someone who has done it before. "
