With July 4th behind us, it’s officially summer and time to think about your outdoor lighting needs. Here are some of our favorite products to light the night!
Bug Lights
Anytime you’re outside in the summer, there’s one thing that’s sure to ruin it: bugs. The problem tends to be worse at night because traditional lights attract them.
Most people are so used to seeing bugs on their outdoor lights they’ve never wondered why, or how to stop them. Insects see light differently than people do, and they’re most attracted to shorter wavelengths—light at the far end of the spectrum, close to ultraviolet light. So all too often, the most attractive light in the area will be the manmade outdoor light around your deck, porch or patio.
Bug lights use filtered yellow glass to minimize the short spectrum light—so they don’t attract insects. If you haven’t yet, this summer is the time to switch.

String Lights
Trying to figure out the perfect outdoor lighting for your deck or restaurant? String lights are an impeccable mixture of nostalgia and whimsy for any kind of outdoor venue: whether it’s a patio, a porch, or a party.
You’ve probably seen them around a Christmas tree, but you’ve never seen them like this. These Bulbrite brand string lights are available in 25’ and 48’ lengths and you can connect up to four of them. Instead of small, tiny bulbs, these string lights are made for light bulbs in various shapes and sizes: so you can really make a statement.

LED Rope Lights
String lights are great for overhead lighting, but what about trim and accents? You can hardly light up every square inch, but it’s helpful for you and your guests to mark paths and brighten trims for just the right amount of accent lighting. Rope lighting is slender and flexible, which makes it perfect for clearly illuminating paths and borders.
LED rope lighting offers the same flexibility as an incandescent rope—while staying cool to the touch, and using a fraction of the energy. You can even connect them together, just like string lights. They are also dimmable, so you can make them as bright or subtle you want: it’s entirely up to you.
Dusk-to-Dawn Sensors
Dusk-to-dawn sensors come with a photocell that detects how much light is in the area, and will only allow the lights to turn on if there’s not much light outside. Sensors are an excellent choice for places like driveways and decks while providing an added sense of security.

Projector Lamps
Did you think projector lamps were just for school presentations? Recreate the experience of a drive-in in your very own backyard with a projector. With an OEM projector lamp and a creative spirit, you can even make your own portable screen set up!
There’s no need to choose between movie night and a summer night—if you’ve got a projector lamp, you can have it all.
