MaxLite G40 Dimmable 15 watt LED bulb generates as much light as many 150 watt G40 incandescent bulbs.

  • No lead or mercury means easy and environmentally safe disposal
  • Saves 135 watts in electricity compared to a 150 watt G40 bulb
  • Very long life - Rated to still put out 70% as much light after 25,000 hours of operation as it does when brand new

Not recommended for use in fully enclosed fixtures because heat buildup will shorten life. Do not “hot swap” this bulb. Turn off fixture before replacing existing bulb.

Volts

A measure of "electrical pressure" between two points. The voltage specification of an incandescent lamp is the electrical "pressure" required to drive it at its designed point. The "voltage" of a ballast (e.g. 120 V) refers to the line voltage coming from the power source and is connected to the ballast.

Base

The end (or ends) of the lamp that fits into the socket.

Bulb Shape

The description of the general appearance of a lamp/bulb consists of a letter(s) followed by a number. The letter indicates the shape of the bulb and the number relates to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, a common household bulb is the A-19. The bulb is "A" shape and the diameter would be nineteen 8ths of an inch, or 2 3/8".

CRI

Color Rendering Index is an international system used to rate a lamp's ability to render object colors. The higher the CRI (based upon a 0-100 scale) the richer and more accurately colors generally appear. CRI differences among lamps are not usually visible to the eye unless the difference is more than 3-5 points.

Color Temperature (Kelvin)

An expression of the hue of the light emitted, measured in degrees Kelvin. Usually expressed by a four digit number followed by (k), such as 2700k. Higher temperatures indicate whiter, "cooler" colors, while lower temperatures indicate yellower, "warmer" colors. Some common Kelvin temperature benchmarks are 2700k (warm white), 3500k (neutral white), 4100k (cool white), 5000k (bright white), and 6500k (daylight).

Wonderful decorative lamp

I needed a large lamp for a mid-century modern pendant in our kitchen. This lamp is much brighter than the incandescant lamp it replaced so I added an LED compatible dimmer. Great solution that will likely outlive me.

Very bright, low power consumption LED glob light

5

Does exactly what I wanted. Replaces the original form factor incandescent lamp with a more efficient LED. Very bright light for the power consumption.

Used in a fixture hanging over a dining table. Bulb is base-up but there is space around the base and vent holes so it doesn't get hot. Light is shining down on the table and seems to be uniform (no dark areas as with some LEDs). I'll have to get back to you in 10 or 12 years to comment on the life of the bulb.

I have an overhead kitchen fixture that requires two bulbs of this style and size. I had a poor experience with comparable CFLs, which didn't last long. Incandescent bulbs used too much energy and were very hot, an extra drawback in the kitchen. These bulbs are attractive in the open fixture, very bright, have low energy consumption, and are relatively cool. If they last as long as advertised, I will be very pleased.

Great replacement Globe

5

I placed these globes in the kitchen as well as my closet where they replace incandescent globe bulbs. These are equally bright as the incandescent bulbs and I anticipate a long life with reduced energy costs.

Q & A
Can I use this in a fixture where the max wattage is 60w?

carrie

Yes, the wattage used is only 15 watts.

Will this bulb hold up in a dry outdoor porch location in Minnesota?

Wood

LED lamps work very well in colder temperatures. Providing they are protected from weather elements (as you stated) and not used within a fully enclosed fixture, they will work perfectly.
