Volts

A measure of "electrical pressure" between two points. The voltage specification of an incandescent lamp is the electrical "pressure" required to drive it at its designed point. The "voltage" of a ballast (e.g. 120 V) refers to the line voltage coming from the power source and is connected to the ballast.

Bulb Shape

The description of the general appearance of a lamp/bulb consists of a letter(s) followed by a number. The letter indicates the shape of the bulb and the number relates to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, a common household bulb is the A-19. The bulb is "A" shape and the diameter would be nineteen 8ths of an inch, or 2 3/8".

Some common Kelvin temperature benchmarks are 2700k (warm white), 3500k (neutral white), 4100k (cool white), 5000k (bright white), and 6500k (daylight).

Also referred to as "Maximum Overall Length" (MOL). For light bulbs, it measures the length of a light bulb, from the top of the bulb to the bottom of the base or pins and is typically expressed in inches. For light fixtures and ballasts, it applies to the total horizontal length of the item.

Great price for the bulb

The bulbs all work in my bathroom light above the mirror. They are the same yellow light that the burned out bulb was. The price was great for the exact same bulb other charge triple for.

Disappointing actual length of life

1

We purchased three of the Harbor Breeze Platinum series ceiling fans. The 100-watt Minican Halogen Bulb was included. in 2 of the three fans, the bulbs have expired within 3 months of about 6 hours per day usage. This falls well below the expected 2000 hour life span.

Great Bulbs

I needed a replacement bulb for the bathroom fixture. The bulb I orderd is slightly brighter than the other bulb next to it in the fixture but not so that it is a concern. I orderd the replacement bulbs not knowing what to expect. I am very pleased that the new replacement bulbs are of good quality and that they should last for quite some time. Additionally the shipement time was quite fast. I can honestly say that I would recomend ordering products from this company to anyone who might be interested in buying bulbs.

Q & A
I have a fixture that is currently limited to 2 60w bulbs. I assume this limit is based on the amount of heat the incandescent bulbs generate. I waam looking for a bulb with a higher wattage while not overheating the fixture. Is there a way to tell how much heat these bulbs generate?

We do not recommend using a higher wattage bulb in the fixture. The fixture states 60-watts max. per socket, then a 60 watt or less bulb should be used. We can recommend using a chroma bulb instead of halogen. These bulbs burn cooler and brighter than halogens. We do offer these on our website and they can be found using the following link. http://www.bulbs.com/Chroma_Lamps/results.aspx

How many are in a pack? I have a light fixture that came with Kichler 5903 T-3 100W Mini-Can Halogen bulb. The Halogen bulb is too HOT! The room is hot within minutes of turning on the fixture and becomes unusable. Will a lower wattage Halogen bulb or different brand help?

Patty

This bulb comes 50 to a case but they can be purchased individually. If the halogen bulb currently bing used is too hot, we recommend using either a lower wattage halogen or a Chroma type bulb. The Chroma bulbs use less wattage and produce a bright white light. They also generate less heat. The Chroma bulbs can be found using the following link. http://www.bulbs.com/Chroma_Lamps/results.aspx?No=0.

I need about 2 dozen lightbulbs for matching lights in my home, however I am not sure what the right bulb is. How do I determine what will fit? The look similar to the T4 Clear Halogen, but I have bought several elsewhere and had to return them because they didn't fit. The Lights are Kichler 6162. On the light fixtures it says: 100W Type T C12 LB-2184 Your help is appreciated, I am tired of sitting in the dark.

Per the Kichler website, the bulbs for this fixture are 100W maximum, mini-candelabra base halogen, either T3 or T4. Based on that information, this bulb is the correct replacement for the fixture. If similar bulbs have not fit properly in the fixture, measuring the diameter of the base will help in determining that these bulbs will fit. A mini-candelabra base will measure 11 mm in diameter. If the base has a different measurement, please contact our customer service department at 888-455-2800 to help identify the correct replacement bulb.
