Ballast Factor

The percentage of a lamp's rated lumen output that can be expected when operated on a specific commercially available ballast. For example, a ballast with a ballast factor of 0.93 will result in the lamps emitting 93% of their rated lumen output. A ballast with a lower ballast factor results in less light output and also generally consumes less power.
Ballast Factor

Comments about Universal 1000 Watt, 120-277&480 Volt Metal Halide Ballast:

I have replaced 10 Mercury Vapor/ HPS ballasts with these and the light quality is great almost complete fixture for the price of a mercury vapor bulb. They can start up kind of loud but in 15 minutes they are bright and quit

Are Oil Filled Capacitor and Bracket Kit included in the package??

The "500K" designation at the end of the product code refers to a replacement kit. The kit includes the appropriate core and coil, capacitor and all other components (i.e. mounting brackets) required for ballast replacement.

      • Q:

I need to know if "5 tap" means that I can run multiple bulbs from this one ballast?
Asked on 2/28/2011 by 777 from Irrigon, Oregon, USA

        1 answer

This ballast will only operate one bulb. The multi-tap (5 tap) means that the ballast can be wired for multiple voltages (120, 208, 240, 277 or 480 Volts).
