Volts

A measure of "electrical pressure" between two points. The voltage specification of an incandescent lamp is the electrical "pressure" required to drive it at its designed point. The "voltage" of a ballast (e.g. 120 V) refers to the line voltage coming from the power source and is connected to the ballast.

Bulb Shape

The description of the general appearance of a lamp/bulb consists of a letter(s) followed by a number. The letter indicates the shape of the bulb and the number relates to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, a common household bulb is the A-19. The bulb is "A" shape and the diameter would be nineteen 8ths of an inch, or 2 3/8".

CRI differences among lamps are not usually visible to the eye unless the difference is more than 3-5 points.

Color Temperature (Kelvin)

An expression of the hue of the light emitted, measured in degrees Kelvin. Usually expressed by a four digit number followed by (k), such as 2700k. Higher temperatures indicate whiter, "cooler" colors, while lower temperatures indicate yellower, "warmer" colors. Some common Kelvin temperature benchmarks are 2700k (warm white), 3500k (neutral white), 4100k (cool white), 5000k (bright white), and 6500k (daylight).

Q & A

TCP Elite BR30 ENERGY STAR qualified dimmable 12 watt LED bulb generates as much light as many 85 watt halogen bulbs.

  • No lead or mercury means easy and environmentally safe disposal
  • 875 lumens saves 73 watts in electricity
  • Very long life - Rated to still put out 70% as much light after 25,000 hours of operation as it does when brand new

Not recommended for use in fully enclosed fixtures because heat buildup will shorten life. Do not “hot swap” this bulb. Turn off fixture before replacing existing bulb.

Comments about TCP 85 Watt Equivalent, 12 Watt, 120 Volt DIMMABLE 25,000-Hr 3000K Soft White LED BR30 Bulb:

Replaced two outdoor 100 watt flood lights that require a ladder to get to.
Big benefit from longer life in this case.

So far so good. The two 12 watt bulbs seem to light the area as well as two 100 watt incandescent bulbs did.

Now the total consumption of the area, including ten path lights with LED bulbs, is less than one of the bulbs that I replaced.

Comments about TCP 85 Watt Equivalent, 12 Watt, 120 Volt DIMMABLE 25,000-Hr 3000K Soft White LED BR30 Bulb:

We had a bedroom can light fixture (BR30 size) and only found 60 watt incandescent flood lights that would fit inside. We also tried CFL bulbs but the life of those were short due to the heat created in the base. This LED really shines bright! I'll be ordering more for the workshop! Since it is in our bedroom and dimmable I can set the brightness for the right mood! A great energy saver too! This by far is the best incandescent alternative for a BR30 size flood lamp!
