Volts

A measure of "electrical pressure" between two points. The voltage specification of an incandescent lamp is the electrical "pressure" required to drive it at its designed point. The "voltage" of a ballast (e.g. 120 V) refers to the line voltage coming from the power source and is connected to the ballast.

Bulb Shape

The description of the general appearance of a lamp/bulb consists of a letter(s) followed by a number. The letter indicates the shape of the bulb and the number relates to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, a common household bulb is the A-19. The bulb is "A" shape and the diameter would be nineteen 8ths of an inch, or 2 3/8".

Color Rendering Index is an international system used to rate a lamp's ability to render object colors. The higher the CRI (based upon a 0-100 scale) the richer and more accurately colors generally appear. CRI differences among lamps are not usually visible to the eye unless the difference is more than 3-5 points.

Color Temperature (Kelvin)

An expression of the hue of the light emitted, measured in degrees Kelvin. Usually expressed by a four digit number followed by (k), such as 2700k. Higher temperatures indicate whiter, "cooler" colors, while lower temperatures indicate yellower, "warmer" colors. Some common Kelvin temperature benchmarks are 2700k (warm white), 3500k (neutral white), 4100k (cool white), 5000k (bright white), and 6500k (daylight).

Works well in my Kitchen

This bulb is for my kitchen track lighting. It's a good value at this price. There is nothing exotic or special about the bulb. I do not burn them very long per day so they last pretty good. However if you have a lot of GU10 bulbs for your track lighting using high wattages and burning for long hours this bulb might be the wrong choice for you. You should be considering the advantages of switching to LED for an application as I described here, but for my limited purposes this bulb is just fine.

So glad I found Bulbs.com

Got a used hood vent for the kitchen stove and one light was burnt. Went to local store and purchased a bulb that looked like a perfect match, it was not, would not install. Got online and found the manufacturer website, replacement bulb was available for $32! The vent takes 4 bulbs, really? Started searching, found bulbs.com, Yeah! Paid way less and they fit perfectly. The bulb from bulbs.com gives a light that is "hotter" (for lack of a better word) than the original bulbs. The light from the original bulbs are more diffuse, but I saved like $100 on 4 bulbs, who cares.

Great for a few weeks.

1

Bought 12 of these last july. In a fixture of five bulbs, that had 2 burned out, I put in two of these. One died after two weeks. Shortly after, the other one died. Over the following 8 months or so, these new bulbs kept burning out. I am now down to the last two. Also during this time, the remaining three bulbs in the other 3 sockets (not from this batch) are still burning bright and never failed. These things are a waste of money.

It seems I'm constantly re-ordering this product. Many burn outs after 2 weeks. If I could afford LED I would switch.

Burns out quickly

1

This is a cheap product that will kill your budget. My 20 bulbs lasted 2 months as they burn out very quickly. One bulb lasted 10 seconds - it popped as soon as I replaced it. I replace this with 35watt bulbs (same company, same model) - and it lasts so much better. Buy 35watts, they don't burn out as fast.
