The light is white, unlike the yellowish light of the halogen bulbs that these replaced. One week's use does not reveal much about longevity or savings. There is less heat generated, a good thing in these extraordinary summer temperatures. Odd to say, but I am waiting for the remaining halogen bulbs burn out to justify replacing them. The cost was about 4 times that of the halogen par 30 bulbs, but the quantity and quality of light are worth the price.

What are the minimum / maximum operating temperatures for this bulb? Will it perform equally in room and outdoor (winter) temperatures?

Philips LED lamp operating temperature is -40 to 120 F. Yes, it will perform in both settings. LEDs do perform well in colder temperatures, providing they are not directly exposed to weather elements and not in a fully enclosed fixture. What does it mean . . ."Do not use in enclosed fixture." What about in a recessed can in the ceiling?

Yes, this Philips BR30 can be used within recessed cans. It should not be used within a completely enclosed fixture such as a recessed can with a lens cover.
