The letter indicates the shape of the bulb and the number relates to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, a common household bulb is the A-19. The bulb is "A" shape and the diameter would be nineteen 8ths of an inch, or 2 3/8".

CRI differences among lamps are not usually visible to the eye unless the difference is more than 3-5 points.

Some common Kelvin temperature benchmarks are 2700k (warm white), 3500k (neutral white), 4100k (cool white), 5000k (bright white), and 6500k (daylight).

Comments about Philips Lighting Philips 100 Watt Incandescent Equiv., 14 Watt, 120 Volt Non-Dimmable 5000K Bright White LED A-19 Bulb:

Bought 10 Bulbs and replaced CFL bulbs. These are in lamps with large shades open at top and bottom with plenty of air flow. The bulbs work for 40 min then get too hot and will cut off - cool down and then come back on. I have replaced with Duracell Led lights. I bought the Duracell Led lights 1st and loved them, but they cost $24 each. So I tried to find a cheaper light that would do the same thing.... And ---- you get what you pay for!!!!

These are great bulbs. I purchased these for use in a new garage. The 5000K color temperature makes for a nice bright daylight bulb. The 14W (100W standard bulb equivalent) remain a little pricey at close to $10.00 per bulb, but if they really last 20 years, they should pay for themselves with the lower wattage cost savings. The garage contains 12 bulbs so the wattage I would have used was 1200W vs 168W with the LED bulbs. My research on test data for these bulbs showed failure on some bulbs from internal solder joints, not the LED itself.
