Energy Used

A rating, expressed in watts, to indicate the rate at which a lamp consumes energy. Also known as wattage value.

Energy Used
10.5 Watts

Volts

A measure of "electrical pressure" between two points. The voltage specification of an incandescent lamp is the electrical "pressure" required to drive it at its designed point. The "voltage" of a ballast (e.g. 120 V) refers to the line voltage coming from the power source and is connected to the ballast.

Base

The end (or ends) of the lamp that fits into the socket.

Medium (E26)

Bulb Shape

The description of the general appearance of a lamp/bulb consists of a letter(s) followed by a number. The letter indicates the shape of the bulb and the number relates to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, a common household bulb is the A-19. The bulb is "A" shape and the diameter would be nineteen 8ths of an inch, or 2 3/8".

Bulb Color

The color of the light produced by a bulb

Bulb Color
Soft White

CRI

Color Rendering Index is an international system used to rate a lamp's ability to render object colors. The higher the CRI (based upon a 0-100 scale) the richer and more accurately colors generally appear. CRI differences among lamps are not usually visible to the eye unless the difference is more than 3-5 points.

CRI

Color Temperature (Kelvin)

An expression of the hue of the light emitted, measured in degrees Kelvin. Usually expressed by a four digit number followed by (k), such as 2700k. Higher temperatures indicate whiter, "cooler" colors, while lower temperatures indicate yellower, "warmer" colors. Some common Kelvin temperature benchmarks are 2700k (warm white), 3500k (neutral white), 4100k (cool white), 5000k (bright white), and 6500k (daylight).

Color Temperature (Kelvin)

Brightness (Lumens)

A rating of the initial light output of a bulb, rated after 100 hrs of operation. Lumens are a measure of how much light falls on one square foot of area, one foot away from the light source.

Brightness (Lumens)
800

Bulb Finish

The surface finish of a bulb, which may affect the quality of the light emitted.

Bulb Finish
Frosted

Bulb Technology

The technology implemented by the bulb, e.g. incandescent, halogen, LED

Average Rated Life (hr)

A measurement of the average length of time, between first use and the point when 50% of the lamps tested have stopped functioning, , using an operating cycle of 3 hours on, 20 minutes off.

Average Rated Life (hr)
20000

Length (in)

Also referred to as "Maximum Overall Length" (MOL). For light bulbs, it measures the length of a light bulb, from the top of the bulb to the bottom of the base or pins and is typically expressed in inches. For light fixtures and ballasts, it applies to the total horizontal length of the item.

Shines mostly upwards

I installed this bulb in a table lamp. I usually read in a chair next to the table. I found most of the light shines upwards, so it doesn't light what I'm reading as well as a traditional bulb. It would be best for recessed ceiling light.

I'm a light bulb junky. I was one of the first on the CFL band wagon years ago - back when the CFL's were long straight and stuck out of your lamp. I bought my first LED light bulb 5-7 years ago and those three lights are still going strong - but are terrible in light output (lumens) light color, etc. Since getting those, I had been hesitant to replace my other CFLs. But I took a leap for Christmas and purchased three of these and I won't ever look back. Good bye CFL's - I will not miss you.

I have not put this product in service. I have tested one bulb and was quite surprised to find it unexpectedly bright. I intend to pass several along as gifts to people who are interested in such lighting, but have not yet had an opportunity to try it.

Using these bulbs in a bedroom and kitchen. They Give off a great amount of lumens at a low amount of watts. They light the room while also maintaining a nice easy on the eyes warm white color which fits perfectly in homes.

Saw this on the site and needed to replace a few CCFLs that kept burning out and flickering. These seem to fit the bill so far. Will be nice to see how they do a couple years down the road.

Q & A
If I have a light fixture that recommends two 60 watt incandescent bulbs should I replace them with two 60 watt equivalent LED bulbs or one 100 watt equivalent LED bulb?

Taylor

That is up to you since that is referring to the maximum amount of energy in watts used. An equivalent LED will only use roughly 18-25 watts of energy for the two LEDs to replace the old 60 watt bulbs. Using 100 watt equivalent LED bulbs will not be an issue.

I have 10 each 60W bulbs on a single dimmer switch. Will 10 of these work off the same dimmer switch circuit?

Galtier

I cannot answer your question without knowing the type of dimmer you currently have. Please contact one of our certified Lighting Specialists at 888-455-2800 for assistance.

How long for this lamp to worm up is it like a cfl lamp mj

catmando25

These LED bulbs do not have a delay or warm up time like CFLs do.

Can I use this bulb in an outdoor fixture?

Robin

Yes, this bulb can be used in an outdoor fixture, but it is important that it is not a fully enclosed fixture. LEDs produce a small amount of heat that needs to dissipate in order for the lamp to operate properly. Using an LED in a fully enclosed fixture may decrease the life of the lamp.

Is this bulb "Energy Star" rated?

Linda

At this time, this Philips CorePro bulb is not Energy Star Rated. Here are all of our Energy Star rated LED products: http://www.bulbs.com/LED_Bulbs/results.aspx?Ntt=energy+star

Hi Folks, can this bulb be used in an upside down application? I have some hanging luminaries that have an open shade where the bulb screws into the socket, upside down. The shade is wide open at the bottom of the shade. Thanks.

SudsMan

Yes, this bulb is suitable for all burn positions.
