Comments about Philips 50-150 Watt, 120 Volt A21 Frosted 3-Way Director Bulb:

The Philips Director series of 3 way bulbs are possibly the best reading lamps ever marketed. 15 years ago I bought some for my 87 year old mother whose vision was failing; they enabled her to enjoy reading again until her death. I use them because they put the light where one needs it--not on the ceiling.

I've been buying these for years. They direct light down in conversation areas and keep the room feeling warmer. That's why they are called the "Director."
