Energy Used

A rating, expressed in watts, to indicate the rate at which a lamp consumes energy. Also known as wattage value.

Energy Used
7 Watts

Volts

A measure of "electrical pressure" between two points. The voltage specification of an incandescent lamp is the electrical "pressure" required to drive it at its designed point. The "voltage" of a ballast (e.g. 120 V) refers to the line voltage coming from the power source and is connected to the ballast.

Bulb Shape

The description of the general appearance of a lamp/bulb consists of a letter(s) followed by a number. The letter indicates the shape of the bulb and the number relates to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, a common household bulb is the A-19. The bulb is "A" shape and the diameter would be nineteen 8ths of an inch, or 2 3/8".

Base

The end (or ends) of the lamp that fits into the socket.

Base
GU10

Beam Spread (°)

The width of a light beam, expressed in degrees. The beam spread is often part of the ordering code for reflector lamps. For example, a 50PAR30/HIR/NFL25 is a 50-watt PAR30 narrow flood lamp with a beam spread of 25 degrees.

Beam Spread (°)
40

Diameter (in)

Light bulbs: a measurement of a bulb's width taken at the widest point of the bulb. Fixtures: the measurement across the widest point of a circular fixture.

Diameter (in)
2

Length (in)

Also referred to as "Maximum Overall Length" (MOL). For light bulbs, it measures the length of a light bulb, from the top of the bulb to the bottom of the base or pins and is typically expressed in inches. For light fixtures and ballasts, it applies to the total horizontal length of the item.

Length (in)
2.5

Average Rated Life (hr)

A measurement of the average length of time, between first use and the point when 50% of the lamps tested have stopped functioning, , using an operating cycle of 3 hours on, 20 minutes off.

Average Rated Life (hr)
25,000

Brightness (Lumens)

A rating of the inital light output of a bulb, rated after 100 hrs of operation. Lumens are a measure of how much light falls on one square foot of area, one foot away from the light source.

Brightness (Lumens)
340

Finish

Light bulbs: the coating applied to the bulb causing light to be emitted in certain colors or color temperatures (see Color Temperature). Popular finishes include clear, frosted, colors (amber, blue, green, red, etc.) as well as color temperature designations ranging from warm white (2700K) to natural daylight (6500K). Fixtures: the decorative finish of the item.

CRI

Color Rendering Index is an international system used to rate a lamp's ability to render object colors. The higher the CRI (based upon a 0-100 scale) the richer and more accurately colors generally appear. CRI differences among lamps are not usually visible to the eye unless the difference is more than 3-5 points.

CRI
82

Color Temperature (Kelvin)

An expression of the hue of the light emitted, measured in degrees Kelvin. Usually expressed by a four digit number followed by (k), such as 2700k. Higher temperatures indicate whiter, "cooler" colors, while lower temperatures indicate yellower, "warmer" colors. Some common Kelvin temperature benchmarks are 2700k (warm white), 3500k (neutral white), 4100k (cool white), 5000k (bright white), and 6500k (daylight).

Q & A

TCP Brand DIMMABLE 7 Watt lamp replaces a 35 watt MR16 halogen lamps. Can smoothly dim down to 5% power.

  • Perfect to use anywhere you are using a 35 watt MR16 halogen lamp with GU10 base

  • 2700K "Warm White" color closely resembles the halogen it replaces

  • No lead or mercury means easy and environmentally safe disposal

  • 340 Lumens initial light output is comparable to many 35 watt MR16 halogen lamps, while saving 28 watts in electricity

  • VERY long life - rated to still put out 70% as much light after 25,000 hours of operation as it does when brand new

CHECK PRODUCT FIT BEFORE INVESTING IN MANY - Product May Not Fit in Your Fixture.  Also, NOT RECOMMENDED for use in enclosed fixtures because heat buildup can shorten life.  DO NOT "hot swap" this lamp.  Turn off fixture before replacing existing bulb.

Comments about TCP 35 Watt Equiv., 7 Watt, LED MR-16 DIMMABLE 2700K, Flood Lamp with GU10 Base:

I'm hoping these last as long as advertised. After burning out halogens every 6 months or so at $3-4 a pop, these should save me money in the long run. At 2700K on the light spectrum, they are still almost a bit too white, but not bad.

Comments about TCP 35 Watt Equiv., 7 Watt, LED MR-16 DIMMABLE 2700K, Flood Lamp with GU10 Base:

I am so happy to have found this product! I was looking for an efficient bulb with good warm color (2700K) for lighting my art collection. Most LEDs are either too blue in color or too narrow in focus. This bulb won over many other tries. There is no halo of light around the bulb as with some LEDs or CFLs. It just sends out the light and you don't see the source. In addition, this bulb is the closest to a real flood light that I have found, so you don't get hot spots on larger paintings, such as those 4 feet by 6 feet or larger.

If you want a narrower focus for smaller works, try it's sister product: LED7GU10MR1627KNFL
