Energy Used

A rating, expressed in watts, to indicate the rate at which a lamp consumes energy. Also known as wattage value.

Energy Used
7 Watts

Volts

A measure of "electrical pressure" between two points. The voltage specification of an incandescent lamp is the electrical "pressure" required to drive it at its designed point. The "voltage" of a ballast (e.g. 120 V) refers to the line voltage coming from the power source and is connected to the ballast.

Volts
120

Bulb Shape

The description of the general appearance of a lamp/bulb consists of a letter(s) followed by a number. The letter indicates the shape of the bulb and the number relates to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, a common household bulb is the A-19. The bulb is "A" shape and the diameter would be nineteen 8ths of an inch, or 2 3/8".

MR-16/L

Base

The end (or ends) of the lamp that fits into the socket.

Base
GU10

Beam Spread (°)

The width of a light beam, expressed in degrees. The beam spread is often part of the ordering code for reflector lamps. For example, a 50PAR30/HIR/NFL25 is a 50-watt PAR30 narrow flood lamp with a beam spread of 25 degrees.

Beam Spread (°)
40

Width (in)

For fixtures and ballasts, width is the measurement of the total horizontal distance from left to right of the product in inches.

Width (in)
2

Length (in)

Also referred to as "Maximum Overall Length" (MOL). For light bulbs, it measures the length of a light bulb, from the top of the bulb to the bottom of the base or pins and is typically expressed in inches. For light fixtures and ballasts, it applies to the total horizontal length of the item.

Length (in)
2.5

Average Rated Life (hr)

A measurement of the average length of time, between first use and the point when 50% of the lamps tested have stopped functioning, , using an operating cycle of 3 hours on, 20 minutes off.

Average Rated Life (hr)
25,000

Brightness (Lumens)

A rating of the inital light output of a bulb, rated after 100 hrs of operation. Lumens are a measure of how much light falls on one square foot of area, one foot away from the light source.

Brightness (Lumens)
370

CRI

Color Rendering Index is an international system used to rate a lamp's ability to render object colors. The higher the CRI (based upon a 0-100 scale) the richer and more accurately colors generally appear. CRI differences among lamps are not usually visible to the eye unless the difference is more than 3-5 points.

CRI
82

Color Temperature (Kelvin)

An expression of the hue of the light emitted, measured in degrees Kelvin. Usually expressed by a four digit number followed by (k), such as 2700k. Higher temperatures indicate whiter, "cooler" colors, while lower temperatures indicate yellower, "warmer" colors. Some common Kelvin temperature benchmarks are 2700k (warm white), 3500k (neutral white), 4100k (cool white), 5000k (bright white), and 6500k (daylight).

Color Temperature (Kelvin)

Center Beam Candle Power

Center Beam Candle Power(CBPC), or Maximum Beam Candle Power(MBCP), represents the intensity of delivered light that falls onto a surface area. Delivered light describes how much useful light a bulb can deliver to a task area and is the best and most relevant measurement for evaluating LEDs and for making accurate comparisons with conventional lighting. Evaluating an LED solely or primarily on the basis if its lumen output can underestimate or otherwise give a distorted picture of the LED's performance and suitability for a given task or application.

Bulb Technology

The technology implemented by the bulb, e.g. incandescent, halogen, LED

Q & A

TCP Brand DIMMABLE 7 Watt lamp replaces a 35 watt MR-16 halogen lamps. Can smoothly dim down to 5% power.

  • Perfect to use anywhere you are using a 35 watt MR-16 halogen lamp with GU10 base

  • No lead or mercury means easy and environmentally safe disposal

  • 370 Lumens initial light output is comparable to many MR-16 halogen lamps, while saving 28 watts in electricity

  • VERY long life - rated to still put out 70% as much light after 25,000 hours of operation as it does when brand new

CHECK PRODUCT FIT BEFORE INVESTING IN MANY - Product May Not Fit in Your Fixture.  Also, NOT RECOMMENDED for use in enclosed fixtures because heat buildup can shorten life.  DO NOT "hot swap" this lamp.  Turn off fixture before replacing existing bulb.

Comments about TCP 35 Watt Equiv., 7 Watt, LED MR-16 DIMMABLE 4100K Flood Lamp with GU10 Base:

Replacing halogen bulbs in my two units that require 4 each. I hesitated because of the cost of the bulb, but we spend $4-$5 for each halogen, they are not lasting like they used to and am tired of dragging my 8 ft ladder from the garage to the kitchen, climbing said ladder, to replace bulbs twice a year.

I bought 1 bulb to try out and it seems to be doing quite well. It is bright and beautiful.

After calculating the cost I am going to bite the bullet and get the other 7. I did notate one con, since it is a flood light, the bulb does not provide any side illumination and therefore does not enhance the beauty of the diffuser glass, which is one of the reasons I purchased the fixtures. So I gave it a 4 star review.

Flood lighting is ok for us because we have 13 ft ceilings. I do not know how it would work out for people with lower ceilings. I did not rate the longevity because we have not had it that long. But, if they are anything like my (supposed 8 year life) LED aquarium light, that we spent $250.00 two years ago, to replace bulbs that cost me $500.00 a year, and it keeps me off the stupid ladder then I will be a happy camper!

Will update more after we have had them a year or so. 6/11/2014
