Energy Used

A rating, expressed in watts, to indicate the rate at which a lamp consumes energy. Also known as wattage value.

Energy Used
8.6 Watts

Volts

A measure of "electrical pressure" between two points. The voltage specification of an incandescent lamp is the electrical "pressure" required to drive it at its designed point. The "voltage" of a ballast (e.g. 120 V) refers to the line voltage coming from the power source and is connected to the ballast.

Volts
120

Bulb Shape

The description of the general appearance of a lamp/bulb consists of a letter(s) followed by a number. The letter indicates the shape of the bulb and the number relates to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, a common household bulb is the A-19. The bulb is "A" shape and the diameter would be nineteen 8ths of an inch, or 2 3/8".

Bulb Shape
PAR-20

Base

The end (or ends) of the lamp that fits into the socket.

Base
Medium (E26)

Beam Spread (°)

The width of a light beam, expressed in degrees. The beam spread is often part of the ordering code for reflector lamps. For example, a 50PAR30/HIR/NFL25 is a 50-watt PAR30 narrow flood lamp with a beam spread of 25 degrees.

Beam Spread (°)
8

Diameter (in)

Light bulbs: a measurement of a bulb's width taken at the widest point of the bulb. Fixtures: the measurement across the widest point of a circular fixture.

Diameter (in)
2.48

Length (in)

Also referred to as "Maximum Overall Length" (MOL). For light bulbs, it measures the length of a light bulb, from the top of the bulb to the bottom of the base or pins and is typically expressed in inches. For light fixtures and ballasts, it applies to the total horizontal length of the item.

Length (in)
3.26

Average Rated Life (hr)

A measurement of the average length of time, between first use and the point when 50% of the lamps tested have stopped functioning, , using an operating cycle of 3 hours on, 20 minutes off.

Average Rated Life (hr)
40,000

Brightness (Lumens)

A rating of the inital light output of a bulb, rated after 100 hrs of operation. Lumens are a measure of how much light falls on one square foot of area, one foot away from the light source.

Brightness (Lumens)
380

CRI

Color Rendering Index is an international system used to rate a lamp's ability to render object colors. The higher the CRI (based upon a 0-100 scale) the richer and more accurately colors generally appear. CRI differences among lamps are not usually visible to the eye unless the difference is more than 3-5 points.

CRI
80

Color Temperature (Kelvin)

An expression of the hue of the light emitted, measured in degrees Kelvin. Usually expressed by a four digit number followed by (k), such as 2700k. Higher temperatures indicate whiter, "cooler" colors, while lower temperatures indicate yellower, "warmer" colors. Some common Kelvin temperature benchmarks are 2700k (warm white), 3500k (neutral white), 4100k (cool white), 5000k (bright white), and 6500k (daylight).

Center Beam Candle Power

Center Beam Candle Power(CBPC), or Maximum Beam Candle Power(MBCP), represents the intensity of delivered light that falls onto a surface area. Delivered light describes how much useful light a bulb can deliver to a task area and is the best and most relevant measurement for evaluating LEDs and for making accurate comparisons with conventional lighting. Evaluating an LED solely or primarily on the basis if its lumen output can underestimate or otherwise give a distorted picture of the LED's performance and suitability for a given task or application.

Comments about Toshiba 60 Watt Equivalent, 8.6 Watt, 120 Volt DIMMABLE 40,000 Hr 2700K Warm White LED PAR20 Spot Bulb:

This LED bulb with an 8 dgree beam was used to replace incondesent 50w halogen bulbs. They are used to light the stations of the cross along the church walls and are perfect!! These LED bulbs put much more light directly on the paitings and really bring the colors out. The stations are more pronounced during the day and in the evening the affect is even more dramatic.. We have only done one side of the church and will be doing the other side of the church shortly. The church is very Anglican in style and there was a concern about the warmth of the light. There is no difference between this LED 8 dgree spot and the bulb it replaced.. All and all a great change out for us.

I've been waiting for an LED spot that would light my photos/artwork with the same nice, warm feel as halogens, and this bulb fits the bill. Well done Toshiba.

            Bright and well-focused.
Runs hot, but not as hot as halogen. Dims well.
Great color balance, right between yellow/warm and blue/cold, excellent for lighting bright colors.
Not sure about life yet - have only been using it for a month.

I had an over-the-sink downlight that I hated: it was a teensy little compact fluorescent that didn't let me see what I was doing. I bought this puppy and...what a switch! It gives great, white light that highlights the dishes I'm cleaning and plays up the graphic I have over the sink. It would be great for any accent lighting in a small fixture.

While LED lamps do perform well in colder temperatures, they should still be protected from weather elements. This LED is not rated for wet locations.
