Energy Used

A rating, expressed in watts, to indicate the rate at which a lamp consumes energy. Also known as wattage value.

Energy Used
11 Watts

Volts

A measure of "electrical pressure" between two points. The voltage specification of an incandescent lamp is the electrical "pressure" required to drive it at its designed point. The "voltage" of a ballast (e.g. 120 V) refers to the line voltage coming from the power source and is connected to the ballast.

Volts
120

Bulb Shape

The description of the general appearance of a lamp/bulb consists of a letter(s) followed by a number. The letter indicates the shape of the bulb and the number relates to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, a common household bulb is the A-19. The bulb is "A" shape and the diameter would be nineteen 8ths of an inch, or 2 3/8".

Base

The end (or ends) of the lamp that fits into the socket.

Base
GU10

Diameter (in)

Light bulbs: a measurement of a bulb's width taken at the widest point of the bulb. Fixtures: the measurement across the widest point of a circular fixture.

Diameter (in)
2

Length (in)

Also referred to as "Maximum Overall Length" (MOL). For light bulbs, it measures the length of a light bulb, from the top of the bulb to the bottom of the base or pins and is typically expressed in inches. For light fixtures and ballasts, it applies to the total horizontal length of the item.

Length (in)
3

Average Rated Life (hr)

A measurement of the average length of time, between first use and the point when 50% of the lamps tested have stopped functioning, , using an operating cycle of 3 hours on, 20 minutes off.

Average Rated Life (hr)
10,000

Brightness (Lumens)

A rating of the inital light output of a bulb, rated after 100 hrs of operation. Lumens are a measure of how much light falls on one square foot of area, one foot away from the light source.

Brightness (Lumens)
250

Finish

Light bulbs: the coating applied to the bulb causing light to be emitted in certain colors or color temperatures (see Color Temperature). Popular finishes include clear, frosted, colors (amber, blue, green, red, etc.) as well as color temperature designations ranging from warm white (2700K) to natural daylight (6500K). Fixtures: the decorative finish of the item.

Finish
Soft White

Color Temperature (Kelvin)

An expression of the hue of the light emitted, measured in degrees Kelvin. Usually expressed by a four digit number followed by (k), such as 2700k. Higher temperatures indicate whiter, "cooler" colors, while lower temperatures indicate yellower, "warmer" colors. Some common Kelvin temperature benchmarks are 2700k (warm white), 3500k (neutral white), 4100k (cool white), 5000k (bright white), and 6500k (daylight).

Color Temperature (Kelvin)
3000K

Q & A

Value Brand brand 11 Watt compact fluorescent reflector lamp. JDR size and shape with GU10 base replaces 35 Watt MR16 lamp.  Warm white color and high color rendering mean you'll never know the difference, at least until you get your electric bill.

  • Outstanding energy efficiency - provides equivalent light to most 35 Watt halogen MR16 lamps while using only 11 Watts of electricity

  • Outstanding life - 10,000 hour rated life is four to five times as long as most halogen lamps

  • Outstanding value - replace your existing lamps with more energy efficient technology, at a competitive price

NOTE that the upper reflector/lamp section attaches to the ballast using the same GU10 twist-and-lock base that attaches the ballast to the socket.  The upper reflector/lamp section can be safely detached from the ballast.

NOT RECOMMENDED for use in enclosed fixtures or for use with control devices such as sensors or dimmers, may shorten lamp life

inexpensive and energy efficient

these bulbs are inexpensive but have a rather slow start up. they are very cool in comparision to the quartz bulbs and shed almost the same light. i find that they have a nicer look when they are warmed up and they will be easier on the cooling and electrical bill. out of 25 bulbs ordered one was dead on arrivial and one other had a loose fitting, but it still worked after a little fiddling. 2/25 or 8% defective leads me to think there is quality control issue at the factory so you better order some spares. will shop there again.

so far so good

By Wayne

Pros

  • Low Cost
  • Very bright

Cons

  • Some quality issues
  • Too Big For Smal Recesses

Best Uses

Bright warm white (3000k) that matches the halogen GU10s I replaced. At about $2 each it is even cheaper than the latter. I give 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons:

    (1) it is much larger than a typical halogen GU10 so it asks for a large recess
    (2) of the 51 I purchased at least 3 have malfunction

The bulbs don't have covers and the light goes downward unblocked. The encircling "pen" is reflective and that also adds to the brightness.

Not sure of the long term quality as it's only 20 days into use for me. So far so good.

        Highly recommendable

        By maintenance engineer

        Verified Buyer

        Pros

        • Energy efficiency
        • Incandescent Light Temp
        • Long life

        Cons

        • May Not Fit All Fixtures

        Best Uses

        • Difficult Access Fixtures
        • Direct Gu10 Replacement

Used to replace 50W GU 10 bulbs in ceiling fixtures.
Have about the (measured) lumen of a 35W GU10 incandescent.
Much better than claimed "9W LED GU10 replacements", due to latter being only 3W (heat limits!) and poor light color for residential use.
Dimensions are slightly larger than incandescent GU10's, so verify fit before buying.
        Excellent product.
