Bulb Shape

The description of the general appearance of a lamp/bulb consists of a letter(s) followed by a number. The letter indicates the shape of the bulb and the number relates to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, a common household bulb is the A-19. The bulb is "A" shape and the diameter would be nineteen 8ths of an inch, or 2 3/8".

I bought these bulbs to brighten up 3 rooms in my house. These worked perfectly. I didn't want a warm color light, because they mute the colors in my house. These 5000k bulbs worked great. I bought some 2700k bulbs for the bedrooms.
These are some of the brightest 100 watt bulbs I have ever used.

Comments about Longstar 100W Incandescent Equivalent, Commercial Grade (1700 Lumens). 26 Watt, 120 Volt Bright White CFL Bulb.:

          > I will never buy another 6500k bulb. They are labeled Daylight, and I bought several for general use, for the "daylight" color, and for the birds. The 6500k bulbs have nothing to do with "daylight", and I had to remove all but one pair in a ceiling lamp in the living room, that has to go through a Tiffany stained glass fixture.

          > This gross error in labeling can be found wherever CFLs are sold, it is a manufacturing problem, it has nothing to do with Bulbs.com, a distributor. The 6500k color is FREAKY. Your browns and yellows are way off. In real daylight, all colors are correct.

          > I bought a number of these 5000k color bulbs, and they are as far to the blue as I will go with *artificial* lighting. Through trial and error I have also discovered that I can also use the 4100k color. I have chosen the 5000k for the bird room. I always hated the sickly yellow of the average incandesent bulbs, which are now going extinct, and were too hot anyway.

          > I am happy with this purchase, this is a good price on a 100w equivalent.

          > For your info:
          > Warm White: 2700k color, too yellow
          >Cool White 4100k color, right in the middle
          >Bright White 5000k color, bluish but OK
          >Daylight 6500k color, nothing daylight about it. Downright freaky

          >Will order from Bulbs.com again. Good prices.

                      A:

This compact fluorescent includes an integrated ballast. When used in enclosed fixtures, the heat will build up and affect the life and performance of the bulb. It is recommended that the fixture (especially indoor fixtures) have some ventilation.
