Bulb Shape

The description of the general appearance of a lamp/bulb consists of a letter(s) followed by a number. The letter indicates the shape of the bulb and the number relates to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, a common household bulb is the A-19. The bulb is "A" shape and the diameter would be nineteen 8ths of an inch, or 2 3/8".

Comments about Greenlite Corp. 100 Watt Incandescent Equivalent, 24 Watt, 120 Volt A-Style CFL Bulb:

These bulbs work well and are very bright. We bought them to light the area outside our front office doors. If not well lit, this area and our parking lot can be quite treacherous for attendees of our nighttime meetings. We wanted energy efficient lights since these are on during all night hours. When first turned on, the bulbs take a short while to get totally bright, as they are fluorescent, but that is not a problem for us. I cannot say anything about how long they will last, as we have not had them for a long time.

Comments about Greenlite Corp. 100 Watt Incandescent Equivalent, 24 Watt, 120 Volt A-Style CFL Bulb:

Is bright white, much brighter than most bulbs(is 5000K). Is more than an inch longer than other A shape cfl's(I assume that it requires more spirals to generate the 100W equivalent light compared to 60W equivalents we have elsewhere in the house). The longer bulb does raise the shade higher(we have clip on shades on this particular lamp) which does change the way the shade looks. Does take a few minutes to get to full brightness. Overall am very satisfied with bulb. Have only used it for a few weeks so far.

Can this bulb be used in a totally enclosed fixture? (an outdoor fixture covered by a glass globe with no ventilation)

                • CUSTOMER CARE

                  A:

This bulb should not be used in totally enclosed fixtures. Even outdoor fixtures should have some ventilation to allow the heat to dissipate but still offer the bulb protection from the elements. If heat builds up within the fixture it will affect the life and performance of the bulb.
