                          Honeywell tries to extort $$$$ out of you by customizing this bulb so you can only buy it from them. They do this by buying Philips bulbs exactly like this and milling (cutting) two small slots out of the plastic base of the bulb. Since the original Philips bulb from Bulbs.com does not have these slots, it won't fit. You're either stuck buying the Honeywell bulb for 3x Bulb.com's price or do this. Take the Honeywell bulb holder out and look inside. See those two small tabs? Their the money-makers for Honeywell. Take a sharp matt knife or exacto knife and cut them off. Voila! Mark which side of the bulb goes where before inserting.

                            We have priced these bulb at our local stores and they are well over $100.00 each! We use it in our outdoor fishpond and the bulb must be changed every 12 months! So this has been the MOST cost effective way to comply with the manufacturer!

                                A:

                                The base of the bulb is a 2G11 so a socket that takes that type of base and has the proper wattage rating will work. In regards to the ballast, ballast manufacturer's recommend that this type of bulb be used with a ballast that will also operate an F54T5/HO bulb.
