Comments about Bulbrite 65 Watt, 120 Volt BR30 Frosted Reflector Flood:

I replaced the CFLs with these bulbs. The difference was like night and day, literally. The stupid CFLs took forever to ramp up, didn't come to full brightness, and had mercury in them. Mercury is a *** POISON **** [*] Having to follow HAZMAT procedures if you had the misfortune to break one was absolute idiocy.[*] The only good thing about CFLs is that they run cool and save some energy. The technology just isn't there, yet. LEDs might do it once the prices come down - a lot!!

I live in Chicago and these bulbs usually cost triple what bulbs.com sells them for, [...]. I have so many recessed fixtures I get these bulbs by the case and the brand Bulbrite is just as good as the bigger company's bulbs. I get all my odd bulbs here as well. Great selection and the website is perfect. They let you really see all the dimensions and view the bulbs at all angles so you can be sure you get the right bulb with zero confusion.

What color is the light? Is it warm (golden) or white? I need it for my kitchen and don't want mood lighting in there. I can't find any incandescent bulbs that are bright white. The halogens are perfect, but too hot in the summer. Please help!

                                A:

These bulbs are incandescent and will have a soft yellow light output. If a brighter, whiter light is needed, another option (other than halogen) would be a compact fluorescent bulb. These will save energy and they are available in different color temperatures. There are 5,000K color temperatures available that product a bright, white light output. You can find them using the following link. http://www.bulbs.com/Reflector-Compact_Fluorescent_Screw--in-Light_Bulbs-Category/results.aspx.
