Ballast Factor

The percentage of a lamp's rated lumen output that can be expected when operated on a specific commercially available ballast. For example, a ballast with a ballast factor of 0.93 will result in the lamps emitting 93% of their rated lumen output. A ballast with a lower ballast factor results in less light output and also generally consumes less power.

What is the life expectancy of the ballast, is it the same as the light?

                • Bulbs.com LS1 Certified Lighting Specialist

                  A:

A typically life expectancy on an HID ballast is 10+ years. However, the life of a ballast can be based on a number of factors including # of On/Off cycles, Length of On time, Heat, Humidity/Dampness/Corrosion, Air quality (i.e. dust/dirt/salinity) or vibration.

Is it possible to remote mount the ballast 50ft away from the bulb?

                • CUSTOMER CARE

                  A:

This particular ballast can be remotely mounted at various distances depending on the grade of wire used with the ballast (12GA = 132', 14GA = 83', 16GA = 52' and 18GA = 33'). It may be best to choose the 14GA wire in this case to make sure that the ballast will work from 50' away.
